Ron Branson was born and raised in and around Greensboro, North Carolina. Upon
graduation from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving tours in Texas, California, Viet Nam, and Maryland.
While in the Air Force, Ron met and married Cindy, and they have three grown children, and ten grandchildren.
After his military tour, Ron had
a number of communications/computer related jobs, including the American Red Cross, the Greensboro Daily News & Record,
Burlington Industries, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida, Burlington Industries again, First Tennessee Bank of Memphis, Lomas
Mortgage. He retired in 2005 as a Vice President with MBNA Information Technology. During these employment stints, he
went to school part time, obtaining his B.S. in Business Administration and Economics from the University of North Carolina
at Greensboro, and his MBA in Information Technology Management from the University of Dallas.
Ron and his family moved to Carrollton in 1982, and he was
elected to the Carrollton City Council in 2002 and 2005. There are many concerns that I have about current Council leadership. Too many times citizens are discouraged from
speaking of their concerns and suggestions. As mayor, I will always be open to your thoughts and suggestions. I am not threatened
by a different opinion, and in fact welcome it to either validate or modify my opinions as appropriate. My only restriction
is that it must be respectful, and within reasonable presentation time limits. This is an absolute promise.

MAIN ISSUES 1) IMPROVE LEADERSHIP FOR CITY COUNCIL BY PROVIDING AN ENVIRONMENT WHEREBY NEW IDEAS ARE NOT ONLY WELCOMED,
BUT ENCOURAGED
2) ADDRESS OUR ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION PROBLEMS BY ENFORCING OUR CURRENT LAWS, AND
TIGHTENING UP OTHER AREAS DEEMED INSUFFICIENT
3) TRANSIT ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT (TOD) NEEDS AN INFUSION
OF NEW IDEAS. "IF YOU BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME" WAS A GREAT MOVIE, BUT WE ARE GOING TO NEED SOMETHING UNIQUE
IF WE ARE GOING TO MAKE CARROLLTON A "DESTINATION STATION" AND NOT JUST A "PARK AND RIDE'
4)
LET'S STOP REPEATING THE SAME OLD EXCUSES ABOUT WHY WE DO NOT HAVE NICE HOTELS AND FEW NICE RESTAURANTS, AND START IMPLEMENTING
NEW WAYS TO GET THEM HERE
5) CURRENT MAYORAL TRAVEL EXPENSES ARE THROUGH THE ROOF, AND IT HAS BENEFITED
THE CITY IN NO WAY WHATSOEVER. AS MAYOR, THE COUNCIL WILL JOIN ME IN INSURING THAT ANY AND ALL TRAVEL HAS SPECIFIC PURPOSES
AND EXPECTATIONS, AND NOT JUST PLEASURE AND RESUME PADDING
